STPC to continue outreach with simultaneous relief ops in Cavite and Batangas

“We should never leave some of our kababayans literally and figuratively submerged in murky flood waters because that is theFilipino spirit,” said Edge Genciagan, spokesperson of an environmental group Kalikasan Partylist.

After almost two weeks of devastating flash floods and strong winds that nearly submerged the whole of Metro Manila in flood waters andput several areas in Southern Tagalog (ST) in state of calamity, Kalikasan Partylist and Southern Tagalog Serve the People Corps (STPC)calls for more volunteers to continue massive relief operations in different areas most affected.

STPC Southern Tagalog is a regional volunteer network of more than 60 organizations and hundreds of volunteers. As a continuation of the network’s effort since the onset of typhoon Gener, the group said it will conduct simultaneous relief operationsin Cavite and Batangas on August 17, 2012.

“Cavite and Batangas were considered under the state of calamity even before ‘habagat’ devastated us once more. We are conducting simultaneous relief operations because of the urgency of the call for help from the residents,” Genciagan said.
